I am Sheila Huston, a professional graphic designer and sports photographer in the Vancouver, Washington area. I specialize in sports images, team pictures, portraits, and posters.
My sport portrait process goes beyond pushing the camera button, setting the lighting and posing. The work continues with the post process. The player poses on either a green or white background and the lighting is set to mimic the lighting that will be part of the end exciting photo. In the post process, I remove the background from the player and prepare it for the new background. I have to fine tune the sport players and backgrounds so that it looks like the photo was actually taken together.
The background, sport elements and wording all takes time to create. There is thought in every placement and style used in the photo. I like to create something more than just the standard plain photo with emphasis on the person.
My specialty is that the team photographs are linked to the design I use for individual players, so that they go together perfectly. Sports photography includes a wide range of games, exercises, sports, advertising, and brand development. Sports photographers are specialists in shooting pictures of sporting events and athletes.
